Just got Spotify!

Spotify

It was in year 2012 when I first heard the word SPOTIFY, really late considering it was launched way back 2008, but it was just this week that I got it. In my case, it was just on April 16, 2013 that Spotify became available in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Iceland as shown in the Spotify's email notification, which I signed into prior to its launching in the country.

Spotify

It was kind of surprising to discover that this was actually a downloadable application than an online music-sharing social network. After all the registration and downloading process (forgot what came first), the software was then ready. Not having any idea how the interface looks like nor how it works prior to opening this, I was able to easily navigate through the application in a matter of minutes. It actually resembles iTunes and other music-sharing applications in some ways, so I guess that's why it looks user friendly enough.

Its purpose is just as it says: share music. You can choose to either play those that are in your device or listen to other's without downloading. What I love most though, aside from it's FREE, is the Radio. I don't always have the time to browse Billboard 100 or sites like that to find interesting new songs and those in FMs are always the most requested. But by listening to Spotify's radio, I get to hear new songs, good and bad, and the best thing is that I can always click next if i hate it. Do take note though that you should know what type of music you like so that you won't waste your time searching for a station to add/follow. For me, a pop music lover, Top 100 Pop Tracks on Spotify and Bruno Mars are my top favorites stations.

Spotify

As expected from a Free application, there are really advertisements popping up every now and then, not just those in the application's window but as well as in between songs. Its kind of irritating in a way because you're interrupted by the same line. But then again, there are a lot more advertisements in popular FMs than here. Plus, its not like the ad will be playing every minute or so.

You can also add this on your devices (ipod, ipad, iphone, and android), unless you're on premium, for 30 days free trial.

There are no system requirements for Spotify, you just need internet accessibility and the following platforms:

  • Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

  • Windows Vista

  • Windows 7

  • Mac OS X version 10.6 and above

I would highly recommend this to all music lovers however, if you're solely onto social networking, better not waste your time here.
